These are the things that get said to likely any business looking to grow these days… But if you aren’t naturally inclined to blindly follow all conventional wisdom, what do you do?
Ignore the advice.
At least for a while.
And then maybe something starts speaking to you about how this COULD feel authentic instead of contrived….
Our 1 year anniversary as Luma Accounting is coming on September 12, 2025 – and we can still hear/feel the tornado of merger activity that was happening last year to bring Heather Deibele’s Fox Hills Accounting and Kim Kelleher’s Raw Books together into a one firm with the strong and unique mission of:
BEST. EXPERIENCE. EVER.
It was impossible to think about tackling yet another “thing” – and a “thing” designed to be very public that sets the tone for the whole firm (if anyone reads it!) – while we were merging and even up until a month or two ago.
But then there was a spark of inspiration that felt authentic and possibly doable: a “Dear Diary” style blog where we share what we are experiencing on a regular basis helping business owners with accurate bookkeeping, accounting, and job costing services that improve financial clarity and support small business growth.
Why? Because most blogs that we’ve read seem to focus on extolling the expertise of the firm or explaining why clients should choose them. But Luma has spent a lot of time figuring out our “ideal client” and what if those clients would actually be more convinced that Luma is the place for them because we are sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of what is happening – both the ups and downs (because don’t we usually learn more from the “downs”?) – per the core values that we hold very dear?
So this is the start of us listening to all the advice – and yet also bucking it just a bit – by starting a blog called “Luma Musings.” If you have found this and read it, we are so happy you are here and we hope that you will enjoy joining us on this crazy ride toward more organized finances and clear accounting solutions.
